Bamboo Flute in “C” (Chinese tuning)
This piece is my second attempt at pitching a flute to the Chinese Scale. After making my first one, I fell in love with the sounds that this particular scale has to offer. So as a counterpart to the other Asian inspired flute I made titled “Shigure”, I figured I’d keep trying to make some Native style flutes with sounds from other cultures as their backbone. The flute measures in at a 15” length, with a 3/4” bore. It has 4-finger holes, and the first two lowest holes can be overblown into the second register nicely. The flute is small, skinny, and packs quite a mysterious and zen-filled punch. The mouthpiece is tapered for comfort with some exotic woods, I believe Purple Heart and Rosewood. The fetish block is carved into a sleek and attractive shape, and the flutes energy and acoustics are nice and clear. Great for anyone with a large passion for oriental cultures/sounds. Beginner to intermediate learning difficulty.
