Native style Flute in “G” (Raphael)
This flute is called “Raphael” named after my favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. It is built in the Native style with a 21'' total length, and a 1'' bore. The instrument is in the key of G, tuned at 440 hertz. There is a really extravagant wood layered mouthpiece at the top of the flute, with some signature Red leather lace fastening the Cedar fetish block onto the Fipple Airway. The flute is also the first piece I ever attempted Stone Inlay with, so it holds a truly special place in my heart for growth and development with this craft. The material used for the inlay is pulverized Abalone shell from the Coastal shorelines of Yachats, Oregon. The scale of this flute is unconventional, but the sound and diversity is outstanding. The piece has a lovely curvature to it which treats the sound waves nicely. Amongst most of the pieces I've made, there are only a few that for some reason seem to shine brighter than most without effort, and this is one of them. A piece I've had a hard time letting go of, so it might find a new home and people to inspire. Meant for the intermediate player and above.
